Welcome to the Market!
The Pier Street Farmers Market is held every
Sunday from 9 till 2 pm (May till September).
The market is surrounded by the stunning scenery of Georgia Strait, Fisherman's Wharf, Discovery Fishing Pier and Maritime
Heritage Centre. Enjoy a walk along the nicely rejuvenated Pier Street, the historic soul of Campbell River. Watch the sport
fishermen on the Pier, visit the Maritime Heritage Centre, relax on the pocket beach located right at the Market. Lots to
do and see for all ages!
The market started in 2002 as an initiative
of the Pier Street Association in the hopes that it would invite people to the area. That it did. The market quickly became
a popular community affair; special event weekends often attract more than 4,000 visitors! It is not only the wide variety
of homemade wares, arts and crafts, and fresh produce that bring the crowds, but also the enticing atmosphere, hot food and
live music.
What's the Buzz?
Pier Street Fishing Challenge continues
on August 24th!

The big fishing contest will continue this Sunday, August 24th,
down at the Campbell River Fishing Pier. Who wants $1000 cash? All you have to do
is land a tyee from the Pier during the Pier Street Farmers Market hours
of 9 am to 2 pm and we'll give you the money! There's also a $50 bonus for the
first salmon landed. There is no registration fee and BC fishing regulations
apply.

| learn on the Pier how to filet (and cook) a dog fish |
How about a lesson on filetting the mighty dogfish? We've seen so many caught off the Pier and so many thrown back. We think that this poor species is definitely underrated. If
you filet them right away, they make excellent eating, and the Pier Street Market wants to show you how. Come down to the Pier between 11 am and 1 pm to see a demonstration of dogfish
cleaning and cooking. An experienced hand will show us all how it's
done. Dogfish eater Blair McLean says you'll never throw away another dogfish. He'll even give a $50 prize for the biggest dogfish of the day.
While you're at the Pier, visit the Farmers Market and Artisans Faire. This week Canadian author Harold Rhenisch will read from his collection
of works. Bluegrass musicians Gordon Carter and Kybor Tylor
will play, and the market will salute Campbell River's own Special Olympic athletes. There's an afternoon gas coupon draw sponsored by the Online Gourmet, as well as many other
attractions for the whole family. There's no admission fee.
