2025 was our 3rd annual Kite Flying Day and the sky was filled with kites of all sizes and descriptions flown by residents and visitors of all ages. Kite flying has become more popular each year.
Bevy About Town

Our third annual Bevy About Town, is a fabulous, fun event which has sold out quickly each year. People are happy and excited and ready to explore the unique stores in our beautiful, vibrant Downtown, also enjoy a concert in Spirit Square and the weekend Jazz & Blues Festival.
Scheduled from 5:30 until 9:00 250 tickets will be sold at $55.00 each which will include 11 alcoholic tastings plus five non-alcoholic, a delicious charcuterie box, glass, tickets, map and a bag to carry all your goodies.
We select 11 businesses in our Downtown, each paired with a representative from a local winery, brewery or distillery. We ensure these stores are spacious enough to handle 15 to 20 people at a time plus be of interest in terms of shopping. This event will not only promote our Downtown businesses but also the vendors involved.
Bus service is free for everyone on all routes after 8pm on Friday.
Halloween Trick or Treat Downtown

The majority of businesses in the BIA join in Trick or Treat and give out candy to ghosts, witches, Avengers, animals, sea creatures and firemen. More and more families participate with Mom, Dad and kids all joining in and dressing up. In addition, the Downtown BIA partners with the Library, the Literacy Association and the Altrusa Club to give out FREE, new books to kids of all ages. Last year we noted that we needed to bring in more books for teenagers! 1,000 kids received books.

Downtown BIA Kite Flying Day
Get ready for a fun day at the Downtown BIA's Kite Flying Day, happening on Saturday, June 1, 2024!
In collaboration with the City of Campbell River, come down and design your very own kite! Adding to the excitement, we're thrilled to welcome Shoo Shoo the Clown, and some fun face painting! A big thank you to our community partners, RE/MAX Check Realty and Larayne's Ice Cream, for their contributions of kites, snacks, and sweet treats. They're helping us make this day extra special for everyone. We believe in inclusivity, which is why we've ensured that even our littlest attendees can join in the fun. We've got six inexpensive kites ready and waiting for them to launch into the sky. Save the date and come join us for a day of community, creativity, and, of course, kite flying!
Starlight Shopping & The BIA Big Truck Parade
Get ready for a dazzling spectacle at the Big Truck Parade, where an array of trucks, big and small, light up the night from bumper to bumper.
Join us December 1st for the Welcome Back Starlight Shopping & The BIA Big Truck Parade! The event kicks off at 5:00pm from Sims Road, and will arrive Downtown 6:15pm - 6:30pm, transforming the area into a vibrant display of twinkling lights and festive cheer. Be prepared for road closures between 4:00pm-7:00pm as the excitement unfolds.
The festivities continue in Downtown Campbell River, where the Christmas spirit comes alive. Witness the traditional lighting of the Christmas Tree on Shoppers Row, indulge in live music, a gingerbread house contest and enjoy a cozy fire roast in the square. Plus, take advantage of the extended shopping hours, with local shops offering enticing discounts to jump-start your Christmas shopping. Don't forget to enter our Welcome Back Contest with fabulous prizes!
For a hassle-free experience, consider parking a few blocks away and taking a leisurely stroll downtown. Alternatively, arrive early and savor a delightful dinner before the festivities commence.
